'Mother and Child'
![]() Original artwork is a combination of pencil and airbursh, using black ink and white acrylic paint. Originally painted to illustrate chapter one of a book by Katherine Bell called 'Jonathan', later published as 'Jonathan's Journey' by Thomas Nelson Publishers. (This painting is not included in the book, however the book does contain 10 ink illustrations by Steve Miller) The characters in the book are real people, as are the people in this painting. It depicts Mary Klentzman holding her then 5 year old son Jonathan, who is severely handicapped with cerebral palsy. On the borders of the painting are illustrated events in the book, and real events in the lives of the Klentzmans. The music score on the bottom and side are actually the notes of Silent Night. The child yet unborn in the top border as well as the two portraits of Jonathan on both sides tell the story of Jonathan's twin brother who died in the womb, thus causing Jonathans cerebral palsy. Hands on the piano keys represent Jonathans love of music. Reproductions of this artwork are now available in a very limited edition. Only 750 are in the edition, each signed and numbered by the artist. The image size is 10 inches by 12.5 inches printed in a 12 by 15 inch 100 lb. cover paper. The price of this limited edition print is $29 U.S. dollars. For a limited time only, when you buy 'Mother and Child' and 'Childlike Faith', you will receive a copy of 'Jonathan's Journey' by Katherine Bell at no additional cost.(FREE!) |
