Shannon Wirrenga is a Christian artist who creates work that brings glory to God. When ask why she creates inspirational art, here is what Shannon had to say:
"For ten years my focus was on a freelance commercial art career because this area (a farm state) doesn't typically support the fine arts enough for a career. But almost 3 years ago, I felt the Lord calling me to paint for Him. My first inspiration came about while in prayer and while I was asking Him what to paint. With my commercial art continuing and my children just now old enough to start school, I am very busy and finding time to paint is a challenge. But I am determined to follow through with whatever ideas God blesses my way. And I have many now! With His grace I might someday be able to give up most of my freelance work and focus on just His work.
I paint inspirational because it is the subject that I have the most passion for. It would be quite an honor if the artwork would become a ministry on canvas that opens the hearts of many for Jesus. This is a very visual generation...so we have to start reaching out visually and distract people with what is wholesome and true instead of the other way around!!
Shannon's media of choice is oils, but she says "I would like to start experimenting with watercolor. Especially for finishing a Christian childrens book idea that I have."

This oil painting portrays all that our country has chosen to forget…how badly we need to PRAY! The image shows the true condition of our flag as being torn and dirty with the eagle’s wing broken. It represents a country that is also torn, dirty and broken and need of a savior to pick it up and carry it. The full title is " I Want You America…Have You Forgotten How Much You Need Me?" and is also printed just below the image.
