| Janet
was married in 1975 to her husband, Steve, who promised
her he would build her the studio she always wanted. In
1990, that phase of Janet's dream as an artist was
realized when Steve added a third floor to there home and
"The
Upper Room Studio" was born. At that time, Janet was
painting landscapes and the beauty of God's creation.
However, God begin to change Janet's desire for why she
painted, as well as what she painted. Janet describes the
changes that took place like this: "Both Steve and I have been born again since 1977. God's plan for our life in Him included both our gifts. Steve is an accomplished singer, guitarist. |

| He has led worship at our church for
over 20 years, and for the past 3years has been on staff
as full time Pastor of music and the arts. Our lives
changed in 1996 when God put us in His grip. I could no
longer paint what I had been painting. I had been
reproducing what He had already created and doing a poor
job at it. To me it didn't have any life in it. So with
much crying I told the Lord I was not going to be an
artist anymore. I started to break down the studio,
giving things away. However, I had always been gifted
with visions. These I would see while in worship. I had
painted them on occasion when I felt the people where not
understanding what God had shown me He was doing. At this
time there was a vision I had of a hill which ignited on
fire and ignited a cross at the very top. I told the Lord
that I wanted to paint this one last one so I could
always remember how beautiful it was. As I was painting
that one I had another vision. Telling the Lord, Please
just this last one, and I will not paint anymore. People
need to see how complete You are. This went on and on and
I am have not desire to paint anything else but
Him." |

The following is what Janet has to say about her painting gift.... "My God is a God of color and light. When I paint, I use color boldly to evoke emotions within the viewer in order to get their attention. I believe God has given me a message to carry to a lost and dying world. It is a message of hope, love, and of most of all, of life eternal. What I paint is what I see by the Spirit. When others see the paintings, my wish is that they will come to understand God's great love for man. I also paint to show the Lord's victory over the forces of darkness. I feel that all my paintings minister to the basic tenet of faith of all who believe: 'For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son...so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.' My artistic expressions are to show others that there is a purpose for their being placed here in this world; and in their living He has always been there and will continue to be there leading them and guiding them--they just need to be willing to receive it. When things look the darkest for them, I want them to know that they are indeed in the grip of God." Today, Janet's prayer is to see her work minister to both spirit-filled believers as well as those who are searching for the truth. As God touched Janet, so too, her desire is that He may touch others through her paintings. People are hungry for evidence that God is still here and that He cares....her work is indeed evidence.
